Minnesota AuDHD Assessment

Living with undiagnosed neurodivergence can feel like a constant battle. Adults in Minnesota often wonder why social interactions leave them drained, why focusing on work or daily tasks seems impossible, or why sensory input from noise, light, or busy environments overwhelms them. Many have learned to mask their differences, over-function, and perform to appear “normal,” yet these efforts often result in exhaustion, self-doubt, and lingering confusion. At Silhouette Psychotherapy, we offer trauma-informed, neurodivergence-affirming assessments for Autism, ADHD, and AuDHD designed to help adults gain clarity, validation, and practical strategies for living authentically.

We understand that neurodivergence is not a flaw. Deficit-based models fail to capture the lived experience of adults who are late-identified or who mask extensively. Our evaluations are designed to uncover subtleties standard assessments miss, highlighting both strengths and challenges in a comprehensive, respectful, and accurate way.

Assessment begins with a detailed intake, exploring developmental history, attention and focus patterns, sensory experiences, coping strategies, and daily challenges. Social, emotional, and occupational functioning are also considered to create a holistic understanding. Executive functioning—including working memory, task initiation, planning, cognitive flexibility, emotional regulation, and attentional control—is assessed using trauma-informed, evidence-based tools. Each step is designed to ensure the client’s experience is validated and understood.

Autism, ADHD, and AuDHD impact cognition and behavior in unique ways. Autism affects social interaction, sensory processing, communication, and emotional regulation. ADHD affects attention, time management, executive functioning, and impulsivity. AuDHD reflects the co-occurrence of both conditions, creating complex patterns such as hyperfocus combined with restlessness, sensory overload and under-stimulation, and emotional intensity with difficulty regulating feelings. Many adults experience both, yet conventional assessments often overlook the interaction. Our evaluations address these complexities.

Adults in Minnesota often face misdiagnosis or dismissal. Phrases like “You’re too successful to be autistic,” “You’re just anxious,” or “You overthink” are common. Our process offers a safe, validating space to explore these experiences and provides comprehensive feedback, including insights into attention patterns, executive functioning, sensory sensitivities, and actionable strategies for life, work, and relationships. Even without a formal diagnosis, clients leave with clarity, understanding, and practical guidance.

A trauma-informed assessment brings benefits beyond insight. Adults often report relief, increased self-compassion, and the ability to understand that their struggles are neurological rather than personal failings. They gain confidence to advocate for accommodations, create routines aligned with their natural functioning, and navigate daily life with less stress. Many report a sense of liberation from years of masking.

Our private-pay model ensures flexibility, autonomy, and privacy. While a Superbill can be provided for potential reimbursement, insurance is not billed directly, allowing clients to maintain control over their personal information and access care without systemic constraints.

Post-assessment guidance may include therapy, coaching, or referrals to neurodivergent-affirming providers. Evaluations provide a foundation for ongoing support in executive functioning, sensory management, emotional regulation, burnout recovery, identity exploration, and self-advocacy.

Adults often have concerns about labeling, stereotypes, or professional impact. Assessments are not labels; they are tools for understanding and validation. Even when a formal diagnosis is not given, insight into attention, executive functioning, sensory profiles, and coping strategies provides tremendous value. Privacy and autonomy are central to the process.
The impact of a neurodivergence-affirming evaluation is transformative. Adults often experience relief, clarity, and empowerment. Understanding how ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD traits intersect allows individuals to work with their natural tendencies rather than against them. Identifying overlapping traits provides answers to long-standing questions about cognition, emotion, and social experience.

Online services are available throughout Minnesota, providing privacy and convenience. The process is structured into manageable sessions, tailored for high-masking adults and those navigating late identification. Results include comprehensive understanding, practical strategies, and validation of lived experience.
If you are ready to gain clarity, feel validated, and develop strategies aligned with your neurological profile, we invite you to schedule a consultation. This process can help you reclaim energy, stop masking, and engage with life authentically and compassionately.
